1984 |
This was the first song I made up on guitar as a teen. I had arranged it with synths and deticated it to my
mom. I've redone it here and added me playing in the background along with the synth guitars. I can't seem to get a good sound out of my guitars pickups so I will try to mic it later. |
| Bell Tune Start Bell Tune |
1992 |
This is not really a song, but rather, what I call a musical doodle.
A doodle, which I have a bunch of, is a short composition containing one or more musical ideas. This doodle was later arranged into an orchestral piece called BellTune, which is here now! |
| Ballad By The Shore |
1992 | Composed by me and my friends KR and Keith in Raleigh. Rearranged a bit after I got a Proteus of my own in 2005. I also added real ocean and seagull sounds. It’s still really a work in progress, it has a couple transition problems, thick in the pad, and of course it needs a melody and some lyrics! |
| Some Place Else |
1988, 1991, 2005 | I composed this orginally in 1988 as a three part guitar piece that I had recorded on a four track recorder.
I later rearranged for the synths using strings and a duet between a flute and harp.
The piece is in 3/4 time and now uses patches from all 4 synths.
It sounds good on most sound systems, but treble turned too high can add a lot of hiss. |

Reflection 20 |
1988 |
This "is" the original song that I had recorded; it's amazing what you find in those old boxes tucked away in dark corners.
There are a few bum notes here and there, but I think it turned out fairly well. The few pops at the end are just noise on the tape.
The piece is in 3/4 time and there are actually 3 1/2 parts. I laid down each track separately on a Tascam Porta One four track recorder. (Which is why you'll hear the four lead in taps on the guitar body.) I originally called this "Reflection" and in 1988, I wasn't sure why; but now I know. I intend to rerecord this at different intervals to measure my progress on the guitar. This is now called Reflection 20, since I was 20 years old when I recorded it. Reflection 37 is in the queue... Disclaimer: I performed this in 1988 on an Ibanez Acoustic classical guitar; no synths here, only amateur music... It is what it is... |

Awestruck |
1992, 2005 | This doodle is my first attempt at writing for piano. The original version was more new age sounding using a number of synth patches, but I've rearranged it for orchestra using the new Orchestral Collection expansion boards for the Triton. I'm not entirely happy with the mix, but I had to move on, so here it is. |

Forest |
1992, 2008 | Composed by me and my friend Keith Malsbury; performed by me. This one is in flux; it's getting longer. There is a synthesized version with guitars, strings, and recorders that I plan to rework and play the guitar part. |

New Horizons |
1993, 2013 | This is more of an oveture. I will eventually make an orchestral version of this and it could use some more rework with insturments, but here it is for now. |
